Travel is a pastime that my husband and I have enjoyed way before God blessed us with our child. My family has a home in the
mountains that we frequent 1-2 times a year. Now that we have a baby the thought of traveling such a long distance, not to mention all the stuff we would have to pack in order to make our stay more comfortable, is overwhelming.
Sleeping away from home in an unfamiliar bed can be an uncomfortable thing for most people, and the same applies to a baby. I was given a portable baby crib from one of my sisters and instantly fell in love with it. Everywhere we went the portable crib went as well, making the babies sleeping routine still possible and our social life still ongoing.
Portable cribs are a comfortable way to ensure your family can maintain their sleep while away on vacation. My husband and I decided that our child would sleep a few nights a month in her portable crib in order to get used to the crib. This would make
her time of adjusting to her new surroundings a little easier.
To Grandma’s House We Go
The first time your baby sleeps away from home anxiety might kick in as you fear lack of sleep for your child’s care giver. Knowing that your child is sleeping safe and sound in her portable crib will do much to relieve your mind of worry, and you might actually get to enjoy your “me” time away from the baby for a few hours.
Children need to feel comforted and surrounded by familiar items that remind them that they are ok and in a safe place. Grandma’s house will become one of those places when your child I old enough to recognize it, but until then, having a portable crib for them to sleep in at Grandma’s house will be their comfort and safe haven.
Not to mention Grandma will be more likely to offer to have more sleepovers with your baby!
Up, Up and Away
If you’re anything like me, I love space. I need it, in fact, I lose my mind if I feel trapped or closed in by clutter. My family jokes that I should go see a counselor about my constant need for everything to be in its proper place.
No one in my house is allowed to go to sleep until all is put up and out of the way, and the house is meticulously cleaned. This is why I have become such a fan of portable cribs. I can now go on vacation and stay in a small cramped hotel room without feeling overwhelmed by all the stuff that has accumulated. Between the multiple suitcases, toys and people, a room can begin to feel rather small.
With one fluid easy motion the portable crib is easily stowed away until it is needed that night!!
